We had dinner in Oswald's Gourmet Room, which rightly has a Michelin star. Since we were there with a dog, we were in the private wine cellar, which was prepared especially for us. We felt more than welcome from the first minute. All the staff in the hotel/restaurant were extremely friendly and accommodating. In addition, we were always addressed by name, which of course doesn't have to be the case, but it's still nice. The food was excellent and the handwriting of the teachers Bau and Winkler was familiar. We had 6 courses plus 3 amus-bouche & petit four. Prices were also more than fair for what we got.
The gourmet restaurant delighted us with its menu throughout, and the second Michelin star it has now received is simply recognition of its consistently outstanding performance. I only wish the signature dish had been available with langoustine instead of scallops. The dessert was equally outstanding.
The welcome at this attractive location in Teisnach was friendly. Considering the culinary skills of Mr. Gerber and his team alone, a second Michelin star should really be awarded. The interplay of flavors and textures is mastered here superbly. The dishes were absolutely convincing both in terms of taste and appearance. However, in our opinion, there were some minor shortcomings. No non-alcoholic wine pairing is offered. The Bordeaux wine specified in the wine pairing we ordered was simply replaced with a South African wine. We found the selection of two main courses extremely limited, especially since one (Japanese beef) incurs an additional charge of EUR 47. The water glasses are constantly filled almost to the brim; this was not a very pleasant gesture. The priority here seems to be increasing sales. We don't experience this in other gourmet restaurants.
