Gourmetrestaurant Dichter : Aribostraße 19, 83700 Rottach-Egern

We ate here on 26th January. The food was truly fantastic - starting with very fresh, clean tastes and becoming more earthy as we went on. One dish, basically only made from Topinambur, was incredible. Every dish hit the mark. The staff are friendly but professional. The wine pairing was excellent.

Booked here for a group of 9 on Sunday March 4th. Confirmed 7 tasting menus and 2 vegetarian tasting menus and was so looking forward to it. However, on our arrival, we were chased down the hall by another staff member and told the restaurant was closed and we were taken to a place next door, called Hubertusstüberl with a very outdated decor and a strange smell of everything old. Sat down at a corner table and waited about 15 minutes for the waitress to come and ask us for the drink orders. She brought us 2 overpriced bottles of water at and left again. Ten minutes later when she returned, our vegetarians, asked what options they had on the set menu, to which the waitress replied: "Do you eat fish?" (why doesn't a waitress at a restaurant, doesn't have a basic knowledge of what a vegetarian is?) Once the food was sorted and ordered, we waited another 20 minutes for someone to come and ask if we wanted any wine, which was brought to us 10 minutes after the first course. Now, the food: 4 of us ordered beef carpaccio as a starter. One was decent, one was brown and dry, and another was frozen. Why is this? When we asked to exchange the brown one, we were brought another frozen carpaccio... Our vegetarians were brought a plate of toast with goats cheese on top, and when the waitress served them, she said: "Well, these dishes are all vegan for you". Again, why doesn't she know the difference? The rest of the food was edible, but nothing compared to our Michelin-starred expectations. This experience was very confusing for all of us. And this review is for both Hubertusstüberl (for a mediocre everything) and Gourmetrestaurant Dichterstub'n (for accepting our booking, confirming the menus and then deciding to close on the day).

Excellent meal, drinks, service and atmosphere. It was an unexpected surprise.
