Idyllically situated, this former peat works is located next to old, overgrown railway tracks. The beer garden, with its natural shade from the trees, is a great place to relax on hot days. The food was delicious, with one exception: the burger patty was probably just boiled and not fried. But everything tasted great nonetheless. I highly recommend the Greek salad :)

Unfortunately, the Torfwerk restaurant is only open Friday to Sunday, but it is definitely worth a visit. The menu is different than the typical ones here in the region. We had wild garlic dumplings with salad (without cream sauce) and zander with asparagus. The pike perch was nicely fried on the skin.

Simply a great experience - the atmosphere is rustic and lovingly furnished. The service is on point and keeps asking if everything is still OK. But the absolute blast was the food: The menu is manageable, but the dishes on it are simply fantastic (see pictures) and the ingredients are perfectly coordinated - e.g.: The spaghetti with porcini mushroom pesto only tasted perfect when you ate the rocket with it. You can tell that someone knows their way around the kitchen. The pretzel schnitzel was also freshly prepared and had an “airy crust” - just like a real schnitzel should be and not these fried ready-made schnitzels. The dessert also blew us away - incredibly delicious ice cream. And what I thought was really great: the chef came to the table and asked whether everything was to our satisfaction. All dishes are made with regional and organic products and the prices are at a normal level. We'll definitely be back!
