At the time of our visit, it was already off season and not many people in the surroundings. The restaurant is not big, a few tables so despite not being fully booked, the ambience was rather not relaxing - we were unlucky to book our visit on the evening when another group of +8 ppl also visited, making the evening quite loud and hard to enjoy the food with a constant chatter and burst of laughter behind our back. Nothing the restaurant can do about, but flagging if you’re looking for a calm experience focused on culinary sensations. We ordered chef’s 5 meals vegetarian experience, paired wine and additional cocktails on top. Some dishes were really surprising and delightful (Swiss chard with pistachio sauce), some very underwhelming (fermented cauliflower). Sauces caught my attention in particular, as after dish 3, I had a feeling everything started tasting the same - the emulsion in each dish apart from pistachios tasted like some version of mayonnaise with a distinguishable hint of vinegar (?) + [you name the ingredient] - all the same basis and very similar in taste. All in all, the culinary experience was nice, yet I’d not say it was the most memorable or exquisite one. The service was rushed, sometimes the next meals arrived before we finished the previous one. The staff wasn’t really interested in the feedback about the dishes - sometimes they only heard an answer from my companion and didn’t bother to follow up with me/didn’t wait for me to finish the sentence. Chef visiting each table towards the end of the experience to ask how you enjoyed the food was a nice touch, yet asked if there was a “theme” for the sauces (I assumed there might be given how similar they were to each other), I couldn’t get a clear answer (might have been a language barrier too). At the end, we received a small treat in the form of two tiny macaroon in a plastic bag with the hotel sticker. Nice add on, yet I’d appreciate more sustainable approach to packaging. Not only because the times call for it, but also given the restaurant focus on local sourcing of some of the ingredients. The plastic packaging with a sticker didn’t suit the overall vibe of the restaurant.
Amazing dinner Visited in February 2023
Lunch at 1465 is a real treat. For the third time we taste the inventive and refined cuisine of Mariano Buda with as much pleasure. The magnificent setting and the friendly and attentive service magnify the moment. Mushroom timbale, arctic char and soufflé for dessert accompanied by a small arvine.
