I'll start by saying that I arrived with very positive thoughts and a lot of anticipation. The Deltapark Hotel is an excellent place with very high standards and the reviews on Google about the restaurant and the photos create anticipation. Even when we enter the restaurant, a luxurious and pleasant atmosphere is noticeable. But from that point, everything deteriorated... The waiter was unpleasant and very unclear and incomprehensible. It is also clear that he lacks sensitivity and emotional intelligence. Putting a fancy dish with two types of butter on the table and starting to explain what they are and then leaving without bringing bread is very strange. Then when we asked if there was bread because we didn't see it on the menu, he said that you only get bread for the butter after you order food. I have never encountered such an attitude in my life. Certainly not in a luxury restaurant. The type of customer is not exactly the kind of person who comes to eat bread with butter and run away without ordering or paying... and that's just the beginning. The first courses arrived and looked amazing. I really thought to myself: "No problem, this is where the good part begins," and then I tasted them... Oh my. The trout had a hard and strange texture that was not typical of raw fish, as if it had been sitting for a long time or overcooked. It had very strong and aggressive flavors that did not compliment the fish and did not give it space. The tartare was spicy even though we were asked if we wanted spicy or mild. It would be an understatement to say that it was very spicy and very sour, and in this dish, as in the trout, the texture of the meat was not good and the flavors were aggressive and overpowering. The meat is the star of this dish and it did not get the stage. Thought that it could not be wors?, I have news for you - veal cheek... An embarrassing dish that has no place in any restaurant. Not in a workers' restaurant, not in a family B&B and certainly not in a luxury restaurant. The veal cheek arrived as a large, viscous lump that was not cooked enough and did not soften, this is absolutely not the way to cook such a piece and absolutely not the way to serve it. To make matters worse, the poor piece arrived on a bed of boiled potatoes without any seasoning except a little chives and a few sad peppers that didn't even get a bit of salt. A lousy dish. The second dish we ordered was homemade tagliatelle in lemon sauce. It was tagliatelle, apparently homemade (that's okay, not every in every home knows how to make pasta) and there was a lemon sauce. It wasn't prity tasty, It wasn't creative, nor was it traditional. Just a boring dish. Not bad, but when it's the best dish of the meal, things are tough. We asked to replace the veal cheek, of course, and after a session with a disgruntled waiter, a surprised restaurant manager, and a chef who didn't understand what the problem was (oh my, if you serve a dish like that and are surprised that a customer is unhappy, you should not be a chef), it was agreed to replace the dish with schnitzel. The schnitzel was perfectly fine, the problem? It's schnitzel. The kind you eat in every family restaurant or ski lodge in Austria. Sorry, in Austria it's bigger, tastier, and costs a third of the price. In short, a waste of time, money and heartache. Go to the nearby DELTAVERDE restaurant or another good restaurant in nearby Thun. Do him a favor and take the chef with you.
I recently visited Delta restaurant and had a good dining experience. The Viennese schnitzel was a standout—cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful. The desserts were also excellent, providing a perfect sweet ending to the meal. Veal fillet was small, expensive and nothing special. While the restaurant is on the expensive side, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it worth the price. I highly recommend pre-booking a table in advance, as Delta is quite popular and tends to get busy. Overall, a fantastic choice for a special occasion!
