Grandis is, without question, one of the finest dining experiences in Laax. Throughout this ski season, I’ve dined there on three occasions, and each visit has been marked by remarkable consistency in both food quality and service. The meat is outstanding—flavorful, expertly prepared, and of the highest quality. The wine options are equally impressive, featuring a thoughtfully curated selection that enhances the overall dining experience. With its warm atmosphere and attentive service, Grandis continues to set the standard for excellence in the region. Can highly recommend it!
Decided to give this place a try based on the glowing reviews. While it admittedly has a large selection of wines, the food that I got as my main left a lot to be desired. I ordered grilled prawns, vegetable and wasabi mash for 39 CHF. While the prawns were adequate (although one or two were black, which I can forgive), the portions of the mash and vegetables were tiny. The vegetables themselves were limp and tasted slightly pickled. I couldn't actually taste the wasabi in the mash. The service was poor. I had to ask separately for ice and butter from the hostile waiter because he rushed past me so quickly each time that I could request only one thing at a time. He did made time though to ask me if I was finished after having eaten one prawn because my knife and fork were too close together. When I asked for the bill, he enquired, "Was the food great?", to which I replied, "No, it was actually tiny and now I have to go to another restaurant to eat again." His response to that was an indifferent and unacceptable: "Okay, enjoy!" Switzerland does not have great service but the portions are usually decent, especially in a ski resort where people have worked up a healthy appetite. (For the record, I weigh about 75kgs and do not expect large portions.) I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant since I know I have eaten much better (and actually filling!) meals nearby or in Flims.
Excellent food and a great choice of wines. The polenta is the best I had. Very nice atmosphere. I will definitely come again.
