First class section (restaurant) on the ship on the Vierwaldstättersee I would have expected better service. It was almost an effort to be served. In first class I would have expected place mats , I can see them stacked up and placed on random tables. For such a clean and luxurious looking ship I would have expected better service in the first class section. If I did not want that extra special touch I would not have upgraded to first class. Also it is boiling in here , opening the doors for some air flow on the middle deck would have made sense. Just a pity having awesome scenery and not first class service. I don’t like giving negative reviews but I do believe if one is not honest people will not know where they could improve on their service and it is also to warn that for now the upgrade to first class is not worth it. Maybe a fork is not a utensil that people use when eating chips but it would have been a nice touch in first class.
It's July 12, 2023 Location: DS City of Lucerne -> 1st Class Onboard Restaurant Journey: Weggis-Flüelen Destination: Lunch on the Ship After waiting at the table for half an hour without being served, I went to the serving counter/cash register to ask if I could order something. After a long time of my presence at the counter being consistently ignored, a service employee finally took my order (sorry again for wanting to order something). The food was then delivered quickly; the food wasn't typical but good (but that's to be expected given the prices). Then, however, the next problem arose. We couldn't order a coffee; we were again consistently ignored by the staff, and the same applies to paying. In the end, I even had to get up again and pressure the cash register to pay before disembarking. Since the ship was busy and we'd also read about a shortage of skilled workers, etc., we dismissed the subpar service as an exception. It's now October 28, 2023 Location: MS Diamant -> 1st Class Onboard Restaurant Journey: Weggis-Beckenried-Weggis Destination: Coffee and Cake for Afternoon Tea As soon as we entered the room, we noticed guests trying to order or pay at the counter. We sat down at a free, but not cleared, table. During the almost 20-minute wait, we watched the two waiters clean the counter and set the table (probably for dinner, the next trip). We weren't asked if we wanted anything, nor was our table cleared (the used dishes were clearly pushed to the edge of the table in the middle of the aisle for clearing). I went to the counter/cash register again to ask if an order was possible. The usual routine: I was ignored, or rather, after a waiter had already walked past me a few times, I was told I'd just have to wait. From this point on, I've made the decision that I won't spend any money in this shop! You carry cakes (see photo)? Great, but if you can't buy them,... somehow they end up in the trash? As the photo of the dining area demonstrates, we couldn't say there were too many guests during our visit to the Diamant; good service should be manageable even for an untrained waitress. I don't want to blame the service staff for the way the service is; in my opinion, there are clear leadership and training deficits here. With the DS Stadt Luzern and the MS Diamant, you have two truly wonderful and beautiful ships, which proudly fly the Swiss national flag on their stern. I vehemently object to blanket statements that Swiss tourism is overpriced, the service is poor, and the staff unfriendly. Unfortunately, this is precisely what the onboard catering of the Lake Lucerne Shipping Company apparently sees as its operating principle. I highly recommend the SGV: throw your caterer's management overboard, leave the grumpy, blue-aproned crew at the harbor, and install a coffee and Selecta vending machine instead. For me, that would be a significant improvement in service. By the way, finally, back to the picture of the catering area (I'm not alone): if the person in the dark green jacket next to the wine cabinet hasn't died, they're probably still waiting to be served....................
Remarkable. Tavilago supports small businesses and regional products. Tavolago actively supports new skilled personnel and offers excellent benefits. Even if things don't always run smoothly, all employees do an outstanding job. Their ability to remain friendly, despite the sometimes very long working hours and the increasingly impatient and demanding customers, is remarkable. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
