Dining solo, I ordered a cheese fondue and a salad. Despite the nearly full house and a visibly short-staffed team, the experience was well worth the wait. This was not only the most generously portioned meal I had in Switzerland, but also one of the most reasonably priced. The green salad, under 10 CHF, came with a self-serve buffet option, allowing for a satisfying variety. The cheese fondue, ostensibly for one, arrived in a portion large enough for two, making it a true value. When I asked if I could dip vegetables other than the standard bread and potatoes, the staff kindly accommodated me as much as they could. There was also a small complimentary amuse-bouche, a thoughtful touch that made the welcome feel even warmer. A heartwarming, hearty meal — and a reminder that hospitality and value can still be found in the most unexpected corners of a busy tourist town.
Great restaurant, very pleasant staff, smiling and attentive. The Chinese fondue is excellent, all you can eat, I recommend it!!
We visited this restaurant based on the positive reviews, but unfortunately had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. After being seated, there was a long wait before anyone took our order, and we were told the main course would take time due to how busy the kitchen was — which we were understanding of. Since we are vegetarians with limited options and were short on time to catch a train, we ordered something simple and quick. Even basic requests like water had to be repeated, and when the food finally arrived, the portion was shockingly small and completely overpriced — barely enough to be called an appetizer. To make matters worse, we were charged for regular tap water, and when we questioned it, the waitress mocked us, saying it was because we didn’t order a main course — even though we were told the kitchen was too busy to prepare one in time. It felt like we were being ridiculed for choosing something quick, simply because of their lack of staff and our dietary needs. On top of that, we were treated with rudeness and a complete lack of hospitality only because our check didn't show 100 CHF and more?? This kind of attitude was disrespectful and unprofessional, and far from what we expected from a restaurant with high ratings.
