Creux du feu (ouvert du 02.11 au 30.04) : La Gîte à Conrad 1, 1636 Broc

The restaurant Au Creux du Feu is very cosy, has a large fire place that makes the ensemble looks like an alpine refuge. It serves delicious homemade soup that it is cook on the fire place and offers a variety of cheese dishes, including 2 types of fondue and croutons covered with cheese, bacon and eggs. Absolutely recommended for cheese lovers and people who want to experience the Alpine vine without actually take a lift up to the mountains

It’s a great, casual place for fondue and other typical Swiss dishes. The difference with other places known around is that this place is not touristic. The place is managed by a woman and to say that it’s extraordinarily well managed to say nothing. They are extremely well organized and provide THE service. Apart that they serve a real fondue which you will not find in a well known crowded places. And what is very important for me, that place doesn’t smell the food. They have a very good air cleaning system. As for the prices, they are more then correct in comparison with Gruyère castle. Reservation required few days in advance. It is always full. I want to compliment Madam Leonie who was serving us and repeat once again that she can open a school to teach the youngsters what is quick and performing service about.

Without a doubt the best fondue I've eaten in a long time. That was actually the opinion of everyone at our table. Just perfect - in every aspect. Rounded off by a service that many could learn from in these fast-moving restaurants in ski or other leisure resorts. Two young women who were always on top of things and never seemed stressed. Very pleasant. I can't recommend a salad beforehand, unless you love these Swiss ready-made salads for nostalgic reasons :-) The wines, on the other hand, are good and fairly priced.
